John D. Perkosky

Getting to know John Perkosky:

I became a lawyer because...I always thought growing up that I was an advocate, that is, I was always ready to take a position and argue or defend it.

What I like most about the law is...the purpose it serves. As it relates to my practice, the law serves as a method to protect the interests of the people I represent and their families. It provides a way for them to obtain justice when they have been wrongfully harmed. I think it is an amazingly fair and just system compared to what exists in other countries.

I joined Ogg, Murphy & Perkosky because...I found representing individuals who had been wrongly injured or families who had wrongfully lost a loved one, to be personally gratifying. Before coming to Ogg, Murphy & Perkosky, I worked at two large corporate law firms. One was in Chicago and the other in Pittsburgh. At those law firms, I represented the interests of corporations, and while the type of work was very similar, the enjoyment and gratification from it was much less for me. Also, the other law firms that I had worked at earlier in my career were large law firms. Ogg, Murphy & Perkosky is a small law firm where the lawyers work together on cases and get to know one another professionally and personally.

What makes Ogg, Murphy & Perkosky different from other lawyers? The lawyers and staff work together and get along well. The focus is on getting a job done right and everybody doing their part.

Someone I really admire...I admire and gain inspiration from different people every single day. For example, children with disabilities. When I see a child who is disabled, but refuses to give in to that disability and learns to be happy and productive in life, I cannot think of anything more admirable or inspirational.

When not at work...you can find me at home. I enjoy time with my family. I am married to Laura, and we have two small children, a daughter, Alexa, and a son, Owen. When I do have a few moments to myself, I enjoy a good book.
